May Monthly Forecast: Limited Time Offer

Gods of MarsFor much of this month five of the ten traditional planets reside in the action adventure zodiac sign of Aries. This astrologer, having her progressed Sun, Mercury and Venus in Aries now understands the incessant energy flow that drives Aries and the people around them crazy. Fire based Aries needs to keep moving, needs excitement and stimulation, is bored with inaction, and tires like a sprint runner after the initial burst of activity. This is why you see so many of them on the couch after you finally prod them to do something. It is why they are filled with great ideas that someone else has to finish.

With Aries, things can spin out of control. This is why it is good that Saturn is at the opposite point, to provide a counterbalance to the whirling top of Aries all action, all the time. With that counterbalance we maintain our balance so we can make good use of this potent energy.

For those of us with a significant point in one of the fire signs, this is the time to make things thing happen. For others of us that have significant points in the male zodiac signs this is the time to grab an opportunity or make one happen. This is a limited time opportunity so get to it!

Aries—Dear Ram, we love your fire and your zest for life, your enthusiasm and
your considerable charm. This is why we put up with you when your turn churlish
and expect that the Universe revolves around you. But lately you might be
getting the sense that people are more than a little impatient with you. This is
because the Universe does not revolve around you. The word “relationship” has at
the base of its meaning the idea that two people interact cooperatively. Your
partner wants a little more than listening to you go on endlessly about your day
while he or she is trying to watch a television show. And when you demand to “do
something” and then refuse to get up out of the bed, you can hardly expect your
partner to simmer with enthusiasm about planning an entertainment for you. So
the word to the wise is this, pay more attention to you partner than you do to
yourself. Things will go better for you. Trust me.

Weekly Astrology Forecast: Can’t Resist a Last Royal Wedding Update

Weekly Astrology ForecastWill and Kate wasted no time in exchanging I’do’s, the official “I now pronounce you man and wife” was just 20 minutes after the official start of the ceremony. Very much like clockwork, the full roster of the royal family arrived and seated exactly on ssheduule, keeping no one waiting for the moment millions of people around of the world was waiting for, the revelation of Kate’s dress. Kept a tightly guarded state secret, not even the the name of the designer was known.

The dress is as you would expect all Kate. Conservative, yet romantic, the bodice of the gown was sculpted to fit with military precision over Kate’s spare figure. No frou frou, fluffery here, exactly as you expect from a Sun sign Capricorn. Yet the sleeves were all lace and the lace came and fitted over the main shell of the bodice, obviously a nod to her romantic Moon in Cancer. Continue reading

Relationship Astrology: Composite or Davison Relationship Chart?

(Astrology Explored) Relationship astrology is a vast field with a multitude of techniques that seem to compete but actually compliment each other. One of these cases is the difference between the composite chart and the Davison relationship chart.

Schwarzenegger and Shriver Composite Chart

The composite chart takes the middle point or more correctly the midpoints between each zodiac aspect for the charts of two people. Midpoints between planets in a birth chart are said to be sensitive points. When one of the planets in solar system passes over or transits the midpoint, both the areas of life represented by those two planets are affected. In a relationship which represents the joining of lives a third entity is created, that of the relationship itself. Taking the midpoints of two individual charts and putting them into it’s own zodiac wheel displays the energies of the relationship, what it is for and how the individuals in the relationship react.

Blog Talk Radio: Conquering the Universe with Matthew Currie

Matthew Currie

Matthew Currie

(Astrology Explored)

Update: 5/12/11–You, me, and Matthew Currie. Tonight 7:00 PM PST 10:00 PM EST. Matthew will bring the wine. See below for directions. Don’t be late.

Not to take any of the limelight from Wills and Kate’s special day Friday, but Thursday night prior, April 28, Matthew Currie and I will get together and talk about skeptics and the people behind them 7:00 PM PST-10:00 PM EST.

Matthew has been looking for a skeptic to come on his Blog Talk Radio show, “Conquering the Universe with Astrology” for quite sometime but for some strange reason no one wants to do it.

Why?

Throughout Astrology’s history, this ancient practice has had its detractors. However, since the 1975 publication of the Humanist Manifesto “Objections to Astrology” astrology and its practitioners has encountered especially vicious attacks. These attacks have been led by the organization the the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry. These folks have tried every argument, trick and manipulation available to discredit astrology. I’m sure Matthew and I will discuss this and other aspects of the tactics of the CSI and the organization that backs them.

Join us for what promises to be a very interesting hour.

Update: Oops! Proving yet again the power of Mercury Rx and its shadow period, Matthew’s computer suffered a total meltdown. April 28th’s show is cancelled. But not to worry. We’ve shuffled around the calendar and came up with a new date. I’ll let Matthew announce it. See you then!

Astrology and Calendars: When Is Easter? Its All Cleopatra’s Fault

Easter Calculation Manuscript(Astrology Explored) Julius Cesar confused everybody. And of course it was all Cleopatra’s fault. At least that is the saw that runs around academic circles.

While Julius lived before the Christian celebration, his decision on what calendar to use affected when Easter shows up on our calendar. Easter bops around our calendar, appearing in March sometimes, April at others and on different Sundays too! How did this happen?

Prior to the institution of the Julian Calendar, Rome operated on a 355 day lunar calendar. It was kind of a strange calendar to begin with making an average of 29.53 days for each lunar month. But the Romans had their reasons, and mostly this involved the timing of religious events, the polytheistic Romans having many ceremonies to honor the gods. These religious events were very important to the Romans, when businesses and the courts shut down, much like our bank holidays. This 355 day year was at odds with the solar year. The regular 10 day difference was strangely ignored some years, then in a game of catch-up lumped two years of mismatching days adding a 20 day intercalary month to religious calendar. While this seems odd to us, with our atomic clocks, for the Roman priests this was their one ticket to secular power. It was the responsibility of the Roman priests to decide when an intercalary month was needed and where in the year this month could be inserted. Quite often the intercalary month was inserted when the priests wished to influence the timing of an election or another important event. There are reports they even accepted bribes to do so.

When Julius Cesar got involved with the very educated Cleopatra, he was immersed in a court well versed in the scientific knowledge of the world. Remember that the Romans imported their gods, the literature and the culture of Greece, making them in some ways their own, but forever Rome was beholden to the scientific and philosophic stores of knowledge from Greece. The Greek Ptolemy dynasty of Egypt sponsored research into a solar calendar and Egypt adopted a solar based calendar for their year. Caesar himself was an intelligent and learned man, waging war very successfully as an exercise in logic and logistics. Caesar saw the political advantages of having a fixed year calendar that essentially progressed as the sun moved approximately one degree against the backdrop of the heavens and instituted the Julian Calendar.

However, in doing so he totally threw the Roman world out of sync with surrounding cultures that used a lunar based calendar. And this is why we scratch our heads at the ever changing date of Easter. Since this holiday is the one religious holiday that is associated with the Jewish holiday, Passover, it’s calculation is based on the moon. This calculation is quite specifically the “The first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox”. The vernal equinox is, of course, the first day of the zodiac sign of Aries.

Happy Easter!

The Age of Pisces and The Washing of Feet

Christ Washing Peter's Feet by Ford Madox Brown

At the Last Supper Christ shared with his disciples, he took the servant’s role and washed the feet of each of them.

Peter, who missed the point of ritual, protested. but Jesus gently rebuked him, saying that if Peter didn’t let him wash his feet, Peter couldn’t be his disciple. Peter then goes over the top saying, “Wash my head and my hands, Lord.”

Can you imagine Jesus at Peter’s feet, looking up at him, with the basin of water before them and the cloth in his hand. Continue reading

Astrology and the Skeptics: Debunkers Tool of a Religious Agenda?

Wearing the guise of science one organization mounts attacks on paranormal subjects from Big Foot to psychic John Edwards. Included in their attacks is a quite well orchestrated war on astrology conducted with questionable tactics. These tactics include funding “studies” on astrology and declaring that astrology is disproved, setting up websites with disinformation on astrology, and influencing organizations like Wikipedia and the British Broadcasting system and using the argument that astrology is a pseudoscience pushing a point of view (POV) that treats astrology with derision.

One wonders why all this energy is expended to plant an image of fakery and disreputability to one profession. Real scientists know that there are more “things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in our philosophies” and don’t dismiss outright what they don’t understand.

As it turns out these individuals are not motivated by science after all. Continue reading
