Celebrity Astrology: Kim Kardashian’s Happily Ever After

After just 72 days into her “fairytale wedding”, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce October 31, 2011 from basketball star Kris Humphries, citing irreconcilable differences. On December 1, 2011 Kris Humphries responded with a petition for annulment of the marriage based on fraud.

Sources very close to Kris Humphries tell TMZ … Kris is gunning for an annulment based on fraud because he feels “he was just slotted in the plot line of Kim Kardashian’s latest headline and newest business venture.”

We’re told Kris believes Kim never intended to stay married to him, but needed a groom to fuel ratings for her show. One source says, “Once they were finished taping, she just didn’t need a groom anymore.”

A Mercury Retrograde Story: The Pilgrim’s Journey and Thanksgiving

In honor of both Thanksgiving and Mercury Retrograde here is last year’s post on the astrology of Thanksgiving.

"The First Thanksgiving at Plymouth" By Jennie A. Brownscombe.

"The First Thanksgiving at Plymouth" By Jennie A. Brownscombe.

Their charter wasn’t the charter for the area they settled. Setbacks and delays marked the start of the journey. Eventually the government of England revoked that charter and their colony was merged into Massachusetts Bay colony, a colony established after theirs. We are talking about the Pilgrims here folks, the people that inspired our Thanksgiving celebration. And who do you think the astrological culprit here is, folks? We’ll get to that in a minute. First, some back-story.

The folks who landed and settled Plymouth, MA, and who we call pilgrims in actuality were religious rebels who outwardly criticized Queen Elizabeth the First for trying to unite England under one religion. For Elizabeth, this uniformity was a political necessity as fractious civil wars between Catholics and Protestants (in our terminology) nearly tore apart the country prior to her reign. Though the Puritan’s religious beliefs were an offshoot of Protestantism, the Puritan’s civil disobedience was a wound to Elizabeth’s attempt to restore order in a country bleeding from the disputes of the past. As a result of the censure of their actions many members fled to Holland and eventually settled in Leyden, Netherlands which was much more religiously tolerant than England. However, though they lived there for a little over a decade, they became increasingly uncomfortable with the local culture, considering the Dutch “libertine” and with their children’s assimilation of Dutch culture. The Puritans decided it was time to leave the Netherlands, but where to go was the question.

On July 29, 1619 an English government patent was issued to John Wincob for a colony to be established at the northern borders Virginia colony but negotiations with the London Company over the territory to be settled stalled. In February of 1620 a London merchant, Tom Weston, approached the Leyden refugees with offers of funding the new settlement with the backing of seventy other merchants with assurances he could resolve the difficulties with the London Company. One John Pierce got involved and all of sudden the new colony was to be settled at the mouth of the Hudson River.

Astrology, Power Outages and CL&P: CT customers left in the cold

Emergency Shelter Sign in CT for October 30 Snowstorm

(Astrology Explored) Eight days into the massive power loss experienced in Connecticut Light and Power missed its deadline of restoring 99% of the service to its customers leaving over 52,000 homes and businesses without power in the cold and the dark. CL&P now promises 100% power restoration by Wednesday.

Though CL&P picked up the paced of the restorations after the initial criticisms of how the power company was handling the crisis, this is cold comfort to the thousands that continue to sleep in homes with heat in temperatures dropping to below freezing each night, while the food in their freezers spoil and those that do have fireplaces or wood stoves scrounge for wood to burn at night. Horary astrology, the astrology of a question is a practice that developed in the Middle Ages. This ancient practice, however, has re-emerged as an active and vital branch in astrology.

Gilbert Navarro will discuss his beginnings as an astrologer and his relationship with noted horary practioneer Mrs. Ivy M. Goldstein-Jacobson. He will touch on how Natal Astrology and Progressions led him to information about his life. He will discuss the first question he asked Mrs. Jacobson and the event chart, 28 years later that proved the question’s accuracy.

Workshop: Saturday, October 22, 2011 10:00 AM-5:00 PM
Gilbert Navarro – A Day of Horary Astrology
Fisk Hall, Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT

Register Online

This discussion of Horary Astrology includes: the houses, how they affect the question, how they affect the aspects, when to increase or narrow the orb, the Solstice Points and the difference between the chart and all the aspects the Moon will make while in the sign she occupies. He will touch on Arabian Parts, especially the Part-of-Fortune. Why he uses the Mean Nodes, not the True Nodes. During the workshop audience questions will illustrate things in both natal and horary astrology. All horary charts used will be from clients where the outcome is known. A workbook will be furnished to attendees.

Gilbert Navarro has been a professional astrologer for 40 years. He was educated in natal and horary astrology by Ivy M. Goldstein-Jacobson. The astrology of finance: Bank of America to go bankrupt?

Bank of America Crime SceneDire warnings of the Bank of America, America’s largest bank by assets, being on the edge of bankruptcy cycle through the news media like scavenger birds circling over a dying calf as BOA suffers day after day of not actual banking losses but stock market losses.

Listen to what this analyst has to say:

Bank of America has over $100 billion in mortgage liabilities, says Chris Whalen Co-founder of Institutional Risk Analytics.

On a web broadcast published on KingWorldNews, he advocates “the classical American way of dealing with this problem”– complete and total restructuring through Chapter 11. Before its too late.

He says, “The only sane way of fixing this and I mean fix it so that Bank of America comes out of the process restructured, ready to support growth, support leverage, is a classic chapter 11…”

His point: Countrywide’s bond trusts are worthless, were never properly constructed, and don’t protect investors at all. Bank of America is on the hook for all of that, and while its subsidiaries are well capitalized, the parent company is bust. The only thing to do to fix this problem is to unmake $100s of billions worth of bond contracts.

While the American people have been fed the line that the current economic crisis was caused by large number of homeowners defaulting on their loans, the truth is much more insidious:

If you’re thinking that our economic crisis was in some way the fault of homeowners who couldn’t afford their mortgages, please consider the following:

At the end of 2007, there were roughly $1.4 trillion in sub-prime mortgages in this country.

If “irresponsible sub-prime borrowers,” caused the meltdown, then $1.4 trillion would have solved the problem in its entirety, right? Because that’s all the sub-prime loans there were.

But, between the Federal Reserve, the FDIC and the Treasury over $13 trillion has been pumped into financial institutions to fix the “housing correction,” which is what Hank Paulson was still calling our economic collapse as of November of 2008.

At the end of 2008, there were $11.9 trillion worth of mortgages in this country. So, with $13 trillion, the government could have paid off every single one… and still had a little over a trillion dollars left over.

But there’s a lot more to the economic problem than that, explains Nomi Prins, my new favorite financial uber-genius and author of “It takes a Pillage.” Wall Street had been playing the leverage game… somewhat like they did in the 1920s, I suppose… but on mega-steroids. Leverage means borrowing on assets, and Wall Street banks were leveraged by 30:1, commercial banks by 10:1, not including their “off-the-balance-sheet” holdings, which could make their leverage ratio significantly higher in many cases.

So… in “Pillage,” Nomi Prins explains in terms anyone can understand that factoring in the leverage at 11:1, we’re looking at a $140 TRILLION economic problem… yes, you read that correctly… that’s trillion, with a ‘T’. Our Wall Street bankers, through the abuse of the securitization process and excessive amounts of leverage, created a potential tab of $140 TRILLION for the people of this country to pick up.

If you have to read that again, go ahead, I’ll wait. Because it bears re-reading.

Now do you have the scope of the problem? When we bailed out the banks we weren’t bailing out the sub-prime mortgage market. We were bailing out Wall Street from the defective securities products they created out of the sub-prime market.

And even as the banks abused the bail-out process they continued to abuse their customers.

“Earlier this year the Federal Reserve determined that the interchange fees Visa and MasterCard fix for big banks grossly exceed the cost of processing a debit card transaction by some 400%. These hidden fees were designed to boost big-bank profits by charging small businesses and merchants every time a debit card was swiped. And profit they did. Bank of America hauls in billions in debit interchange each year.”

The Durbin Amendment reigned in that dog and pony show starting October 1, 2011 and as a result BOA announced a new monthly fee to take effect for anyone using their debit card to make purchases.

So is Bank of America really on the hooks as the analyst says and needs a bankruptcy to restructure their debts?

Bank of America operates under the banking charter issued to its originating bank, the Bank of Italy, founded in San Francisco, CA in 1904 by Armadeo Giannini. This charter was granted on March 1, 1927. While we do not have an official time, I set the time at 9:00 AM, the start of the business day, a practice I’ve personally found useful in evaluating businesses, though this is not a standard astrological practice. The location is set in San Francisco, as this is where Mr. Giannini started his bank.

This charter to operate as a bank was set when the Sun was conjunct Jupiter in the sign of Pisces. This Jupiter/Sun combo squares Mars in Gemini and Saturn in Sagitarrius. Mercury, the planet of commerce as well as communication makes a stress aspect (inconjunct) to Neptune. Can it be fair to say that this entity is not entirely above board in its business dealings? If we were to evaluate this as the chart of a person, we might say that this is a person who talks out both sides of their mouth. And with the Sun/Jupiter combo making a trine to the planet of power and control, this is one entity that has no problem keeping on top of a situation.

As far as transits go, Chiron/Neptune is just beginning a long slow transit of the Sun/Jupiter natal combination, and with the planet of abundance, Jupiter making a friendly energetic connection to that combo and a trine to Pluto BOA is considering bankruptcy as an option. But if it does proceed with that option it is isn’t because they need to reorganize their debt but because they want to. Because in the long run it makes a better balance sheet to tell investors, “So sorry we aren’t able to pay you.” Because it gives a really good excuse to layoff more employees. And those employee pension funds are just too juicy to ignore since pension funds magically disappear during a reorganization. (I guess not having to pay taxes on receipts of investments in pension funds just isn’t enough incentive anymore.) And once again big business can stick it to their customers and the people who labor for them in the interests of short term gains.

Learning Traditional Astrology at the AFA

Chris Brennan

Chris Brennan

(Astrology Explored) Tempe, AZ–Astrology as it is practiced now is a recovered art. The methods and practices of ancient astrology has been lost to modern practitioners when astrology fell into disrepute in the 17th century. When astrology resurrected in the late 19th and 20th century, energized by fresh insights of the new practice of psychoanalysis, astrology was transmuted in a model of understanding the human psyche. However, Western astrology bears little resemblance to astrology as it was originally practiced.

With the translations of ancient works by James H. Holden, a flood of new information became available to the modern astrologer and created interest in a new generation of astrologers in learning from ancient texts.

Here in Tempe, Arizona, the American Federation of Astrologers brought together Demetra George, Chris Brennan, and Benjamin Dykes to give a comprehensive treatment of traditional astrology.

Though a basic form of astrology existed for 2 thousand years prior, Hellenistic astrology formed around 1 century BCE as a fusion between Mesopotamian and Egyptian astrology.

To interpret a chart traditionally you need first to put aside what you’ve learned about planets, zodiac signs and houses.

To first start you need to put aside the use of the idea of the “12 letter alphabet”. While in Western astrology we tend to interchange zodiac signs, planets and houses, this is not the case with Traditional Astrology.

We only use the 7 visible planets and traditional rulerships.

We use a whole sign house system.

In traditional astrology great weight is given to judging the “condition” of a planet. The starting point is whether you have a day or night chart, judged by whether you Sun is above or below the horizon in your chart. A day chart or a night chart will assign you to either a diurnal sect or a nocturnal sect where particular planets of either sect are more prominent in your chart than others.

This certainly is a different way to look at a chart and something worth learning about.

The Astrology of Aspects–The Age of Aquarius and the Transiting Yod in Your Chart

Yod AspectWe see the Age of Aquarius all around us. Advances in technology and communication make it possible to reach the other side of the world in an instant—from our “smart” phones. True to the Aquarian ideals of honesty, concepts like “transparency” have taken a foot hold in the marketplace. Discussions about of what is private and what is not take round robins through our legislatures and nearly each day we receive notifications from businesses we deal with about their privacy policies. “You can be sure we won’t share your information with anyone except . . .). And for the first time in human kind’s history we now have electronic social media, and the instant sharing of what we’ve had for breakfast or our random thoughts during the day. Never before has individuality been so celebrated.

Yet, according Don Cerow, the Age of Aquarius is not to start until February 12, 2013 when the Vernal Equinox is parallel to the fixed star Omega Piscium the last fixed star in the constellation of Pisces.

As such we are straddling the old age and the new. I have often thought that those born with a significant Aquarius/Pisces signature in their horoscope are the harbingers of the New Age. With one foot fixed in the past and their head in the future, these special folk can be our native guides into the New Age. Continue reading

Celtic Astrology: The Harvest Moon–Remembering the Future

Harvest MoonThe Celtics were a people that reconciled opposites, day and night, dark and light as the continuum of the same forces that bound the lives of men and gods together. Unlike us, with our 9 to 5 routines, the Celts viewed Time as fluid, as having the ability to flow back on itself. The Druids called prophecy “remembering the future”.

Also, unlike us, the Celts found the seeding of things in the darkness. A Neolithic people of the land, they were keyed to the rhythms of life and death, the fertility of the land and of their tribes, and the phases of the Moon. As the Sun dipped below the horizon, the moon rose, and literally, a new day began. Continue reading
