(Astrology Explored) Even if this passage from Nostadamus isn’t about Hurricane Sandy, it sure seems like it:
Iardin du monde aupres de cité neufue,
Dans le chemin des montaignes cauees:
Sera saisi & plongé dans la Cuve,
Beuuant par force eaux soulphre enuenimees.
Garden of the world near the new city,
In the path of the hollow mountains:
It will be seized and plunged into the Tub,
Forced to drink waters poisoned by sulfur.
Sandy happend on the full Moon when the Sun and Moon are in opposition. The next lunation is the Solar eclipse on November 13, 2012 on the New Moon. In the New Moon phase the Moon and Sun are conjunct. Mercury is loosely conjunct the Sun though it has moved into a new sign, Sagittarius, which is a fire sign. The fire element is associate with spirit. Is Nostradamus trying to warn of something on this date?
The chart of eclipse is not as stressful as that of the Full Moon on which Sandy struck. Yet oddly, the Astro*Carto*Graphy chart show a Saturn line runs up the coastline, much like Sandy before she struck land.
In this Solar Eclipse Mercury is making a challenge aspect to Neptune and Chiron. Neptune is mists and water, while Chiron shows where something is wrong. Maybe this lunation will bring rain storms, that normally wouldn’t be devastating, will nontheless stress a storm wracked region struggling to recover. Or is Nostradamus trying to warn of us of something else?
Garden of the world has been interpreted by other authors as New Jersey, and by at least one as as Atlantic City many years before this hurricane hit.
The New City is identified as New York City and indeed, they are connected by highways that are lined by “hollow mountains” skyscrapers. Even now the standing flood waters have contaminated fresh water supplies and residents in Atlantic city and surrounding areas are advised to boil their water before drinking it.
Nostradamus often wrote his phrases obscurely and played upon Latin, Greek, astrological and alchemical words and symbols to give added breadth to his work. What is of interest is the reference to waters poisoned by “sulfur”. This is an odd reference, since while sulphur is a part of seawater, it rarely fouls it enough to “poison” it.
Yet in alchemy sulfur has a mystical meaning.
In alchemy, sulphur represents Sol, the fiery male element (the counterpart of Luna, mercury, the female element) of the Celestial marriage (conjunctio). Chemically, the red sulfur was a mixture of mercury (spirit) and sulfur (soul), the marriage of which also represented the spiritual goal of alchemical work.
But there is one way that sulphur can poison the water. And we’ve already seen it as a result of the Fukishima nuclear power plant disaster.
On March 28, 2011, 15 days after operators began pumping seawater into the damaged reactors and pools holding spent fuel, Thiemens’ group observed an unprecedented spike in the amount of radioactive sulfur in the air in La Jolla, California. They recognized that the signal came from the crippled power plant.
Neutrons and other products of the nuclear reaction leak from fuel rods when they melt. Seawater pumped into the reactor absorbed those neutrons, which collided with chloride ions in the saltwater. Each collision knocked a proton out of the nucleus of a chloride atom, transforming the atom to a radioactive form of sulfur.
When the water hit the hot reactors, nearly all of it vaporized into steam. To prevent explosions of the accumulating hydrogen, operators vented the steam, along with the radioactive sulfur, into the atmosphere.
Robert Phoenix wrote:
Oyster Creek, a nuclear power plant in New Jersey has had their power supply disrupted and they are now on alert. Without power, there’s a level of danger that can reach Fukushima like proportions. Just six more inches of flooding can stop Oyster Creeks from cooling. This is potentially disastrous.
But luckily for the people on the East Coast, the alert generated by Hurricane Sandy for Oyster Creek nuclear power plant was cancelled on Wednesday. Yet the question remains, will additional rains compromise the functioning of this power plant, the oldest operation nuclear power plant in the United States?
When Sandy made landfall, the moon hit the Pluto/Sun combination of Atlantic City. On the Solar Eclipse the moon opposes Atlantic City’s Pluto/Sun connection.
These charts are heavy with Scorpio and Pluto transformative energy. With Saturn in Scorpio, one wonders if the foundations (Saturn) of the nuclear power plant has been compromised by flood waters. One thing we can surmise is, since Scorpio and Pluto like to hold onto their secrets, the public had not been informed of the true condition of this nuclear power plant.
“Cuve” in Nostradamus’ quatrain is also a curious word. It is usually, but not always associated with wine vats. Curiously, nuclear containment units resemble wine vats. So instead of the city being thrown into the “vat” of flood waters, perhaps it is the sea that will be thrown into the “vat”, a breach of the containment unit.
This is what was threatened when Sandy’s flood waters came close to overwhelming the intake valves of Oyster Creek. Let us hope that during the next lunation, the workers at Oyster Creek will be especially watchful and cautious and that work is being done now to shore up Oyster Creek’s resistance to bad weather.
