As the New Moon in Cancer touched off a critical T-Square in the horoscope of popular Country Western star Randy Travis he was sent to the emergency room and admitted in the hospital for treatment of viral cardiomyopathy.
Wikipedia tells us about Travis:
Since 1985, he has recorded 20 studio albums and charted more than 50 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, and 16 of these were number one hits. Considered a pivotal figure in the history of country music,[1] Travis broke through in the mid-1980s with the release of his album Storms of Life, which sold more than three million copies. The album established him as a major force in the Neotraditional country movement. Travis followed up his successful debut with a string of platinum and multi-platinum albums.
The Associated Press reports:
The illness is a continuation of a tough run for Travis after a handful of recent high-profile appearances, including a performance during the Country Music Association Festival’s nightly concert series and George Jones’ funeral.
Long a popular figure in country music, the North Carolina-born singer has been trying to put his life back together after a series of embarrassing public incidents involving alcohol.
Travis pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in January following his arrest last year when he was found naked after crashing his Pontiac Trans Am.
Travis was sentenced to two years of probation, fined $2,000 and given a 180-day suspended jail sentence. He was required to spend at least 30 days at an alcohol treatment facility and complete 100 hours of community service.
Dr. Guilherme Oliveira, director of the heart failure and transplant service at University Hospitals Harrington Heart and Vascular Institute in Cleveland, Ohio explained this about the condition.
“The thing with viral myocarditis is it is usually confused with pneumonia…The typical initial presentation is acute shortness of breath over one to two days,” Oliveira said. “People get very sick, very quickly and sometimes require admission to the ICU. It happens usually within the span of a week.”
Fortunately, acquired viral cardiomyopathy is reversible in about 50 percent of cases, according to Oliveira. Beyond that, 25 to 30 percent of patients will experience some heart dysfunction that will need to be managed with medication and doctor’s appointments for the rest of their lives. The remainder will either require a heart transplant – or die from the disease.
However, it was announced today by Travis’s sister-in-law that he has undergone heart surgery, which may mean that too much of the heart muscle was damaged by the virus and he received a transplant. However the detail of his surgery has not been released.

Looking at his chart (below) we see a number of astrological configurations piled up in his chart to indicate severe problems with his heart.
His Sun in the twelfth house which can indicate hospitalization. His Sun is opposite the planet of infections, Neptune. Transiting Saturn sits on that Neptune in the sixth house of health. Here is serious, long lasting and system attack on the body represented by Saturn.
In addition, his moon is at the apex of a yod, with that same Neptune and the planet of transformation, Pluto the two planets at the base. In addition the moon is at the point of the highly stressful T-Square involving Mars at one end and Saturn in the eighth house of death at the other. Also the Natal Sun is square Uranus, a classic sign of potential heart trouble while it is also opposite the Neptune involved in the yod.
With Sunday’s New Moon hitting transiting Pluto sitting on his natal Saturn opposite his planet of vitality, Mars, there is no getting around it, Randy is fighting for his life.
