On September 11, 2001 this astrologer was sitting at her desk at her new job working on reports. This was a small office of 5 people and the radio was on. When we heard about an aircraft hitting the Twin Towers, I thought that some small airplane had gotten off course and slammed into the building by mistake.
But it was no small plane, and no mistake.
The resulting catastrophe scarred the current generations of American for the rest of our lives. When you think of it, America has lived under the threat of war for most of its existence. Our history books are filled with the successive wars of each generation. But for the baby boomers raised under the threat of nuclear war and comforted by the SALT accords, America was looking like a pretty secure place. Our stock market was booming and America was enjoying an unprecedented level of peace and prosperity.
No so for other places in the world. And by and large most Americans had no idea of the religious fervor that fermented in the Arab world.
It is a supreme irony that the man who was behind the 9-11 attacks, Osama Bin Laden, a son of wealthy and influential Saudi family, was in part our creation. Wikipedia tells us:
As part of its Cold War strategy, the White House in the United States began recruiting, financing and arming Mujahideen fighters during Operation Cyclone in 1979, which was aimed to defeat the Soviets.
Bin Laden was raised as a devout Wahhabi Muslim . . . At university, bin Laden’s main interest was religion, where he was involved in both “interpreting the Quran and jihad” and charitable work.[26]
After leaving college in 1979, bin Laden went to Pakistan and joined Abdullah Azzam to take part in the Soviet war in Afghanistan.
According to former CIA analyst Michael Scheuer, who led the CIA’s hunt for Osama bin Laden, the al-Qaeda leader was motivated by a belief that U.S. foreign policy has oppressed, killed, or otherwise harmed Muslims in the Middle East,[44] condensed in the phrase “They hate us for what we do, not who we are.”
Bin Laden also said only the restoration of Sharia law would “set things right” in the Muslim world, and that alternatives such as “pan-Arabism, socialism, communism, democracy” must be opposed.[45] This belief, in conjunction with violent jihad, has sometimes been called Qutbism after being promoted by Sayyid Qutb.[46] Bin Laden believed that Afghanistan, under the rule of Mullah Omar’s Taliban, was “the only Islamic country” in the Muslim world.[47] Bin Laden consistently dwelt on the need for violent jihad to right what he believed were injustices against Muslims perpetrated by the United States and sometimes by other non-Muslim states,[48] the need to eliminate the state of Israel, and the necessity of forcing the United States to withdraw from the Middle East. He also called on Americans to “reject the immoral acts of fornication, homosexuality, intoxicants, gambling, and usury”, in an October 2002 letter.[49]
What exactly Bin Laden witnessed in his time in Afghanistan we don’t know, or the people who know aren’t saying yet surely it cemented in his mind his ideas of America as the “the Great Satan.”
Certainly the cultural chasm between America and the extremist Islamic world is vast. We are the polar opposite of their culture. As much as many of us see the concept of a “holy war” as a perversion of religion expression, extremists Muslims see how we live as a perversion period. Though we don’t think much of their stand on women’s rights, they are taught from birth a whole different view of how to share resources. In the Muslim system risks and benefits in financial transactions are and must be shared equally, unlike our system where business owners get a lion’s share of the rewards while being sheltered from risk. This is what is meant by “usury” in the Muslim world. Resources must be shared with those in need, not doled out with a grudging hand while denigrating people at the opposite end of the power spectrum as undeserving.
On this day the people of New York City and the United States are on high terror alert. Unlike ten years ago we are well aware we are a target in this war. But like ten years ago we are uniformed as to why. Sadly, the alarm sent to us on 9/11/2001 seems to have been used not to educate us but to send us off doing what we’ve always done, insert our agenda into that of other countries.
Who is the criminal here? Where is the crime?
In forensic astrology, the crime is often showed by the astrological aspect the inconjunct. In the inconjunct one end is stuck in a masculine sign while the other is in a female zodiac sign. In the terror alerts of today, the crime is clearly shown in today’s chart. Uranus, the planet of the unexpected and also that of “foreign people” is making an inconjunct to Mercury in Virgo. Mercury is the planet of communication but also of commerce. Mercury is badly aspected, or what ancient astrologers called “afflicted” to the moon representing the public, Chiron, showing wounds that do not heal and Neptune, representing our illusion or delusions or a deliberate obfuscation of the facts. This Mercury is making a trine, a harmonious energetic connection to Pluto in the sign of Capricorn. This placement of Capricorn shows the power elite, the business managers, the people who run the show. Most telling is that this Pluto is making a trine to Jupiter, indicating the anticipation of financial gain. The crime here today on 9/11/2011 is that the people who run the show are deliberately playing on the public feelings to create a climate to leverage even more profit. This is the real crime against the American public.
We are in a war, but it is not jihad. It is a cultural war partly but a financial war mostly. And I think you agree, this is not what we signed up for.
