As the New Moon in Cancer touched off a critical T-Square in the horoscope of popular Country Western star Randy Travis he was sent to the emergency room and admitted in the hospital for treatment of viral cardiomyopathy.

Wikipedia tells us about Travis:

Since 1985, he has recorded 20 studio albums and charted more than 50 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, and 16 of these were number one hits. Considered a pivotal figure in the history of country music,[1] Travis broke through in the mid-1980s with the release of his album Storms of Life, which sold more than three million copies. The album established him as a major force in the Neotraditional country movement. Travis followed up his successful debut with a string of platinum and multi-platinum albums.

The Astrology of Tragedies: The Newtown, CT Elementary School Shooting

Sandy Hook Elementary School Arial View(Astrology Explored) For much of the day the details of the horror of what happened at a small town elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut was obscured by a police lockdown of information. Parents were told to wait by their phones but not to come to the school. Eventually, the unbelievable story was told to the public. At 9:40 AM a troubled man in his twenties entered the main office, shoot the principal and school psychologist, then walked in the kindergarten class taught by his mother and shot children in the class, then killed himself. At 3:23 PM the casualty count was a total of 27 dead, 20 of whom are children. There is an investigation of the mother’s home near the school, where state police confirmed someone else is dead.

The shooter is reported by the media as Adam Lanza, 20 years old. His 24 year old brother Ryan, originally identified as the shooter, is in custody we do not know why at this time.

President Obama made a statement as he wiped away tears, saying “Today our hearts are broken.”

Obviously, as I writing this, law enforcement is trying to piece together the reasons for this awful crime, parents across the country are trying to comprehend the how such a thing can happen, and a nation begins to mourn the deaths of 20 little children and the six adults responsible for their care who died.

Below is the horoscope of the event according to information provided by media. Apparently two women associated with the Lanza brothers are missing as well.

The scene unfolded as the ascendant hit 29 degrees of Capricorn. 29 degrees, at the cusp of changing signs, is often known as the degree of decision. The Moon is conjunct the planet of death and transformation Pluto. Both these planets form one leg a yod, Saturn the other, and Jupiter the apex.

This Jupiter is the focal point of this chart as it receives not only the energy of the yod, but a t-square as well involving Chiron/Neptune and Mercury in Sagittarius.

We see a chart fueled by pain, not rage. Most likely we will find out in as time goes on is that the shooter suffered from bi-polar disorder.

For a state battered and bruised by three major devastating storms in less than two years, this last tragedy is just too much to bear.

Please send your prayers towards the parents and children and the community of Newtown, CT.

The Astrology of Hurricanes and Nor’easters: Irene, Snowtober and Frankenstorm

Irene Sandy Comparison
(Astrology Explored)

The Hunter’s Moon, the full moon of in the sign of Taurus, brings more than its signature orange glow to the moon. This year, Hurricane Sandy, dubbed the Frankenstorm, a 900 mile mega storm travels up the east cost, kicking up storm surge, flooding areas along the eastern seaboard of the United States. The storm is due to hit land, somewhere around Atlantic City, New Jersey sometime Monday night.

With winds reaching up to 76 miles per hours, weather forecasters are looking forward to landfall to weaken the hurricane force winds. However the worst effects may yet be felt with the full moon high tide threatening to bring record high storm surges in coastal areas.

Power outages are widespread and expected to grow through out the night.

Weather forecasters have worked overtime to make predictions on the severity of the storm. Comparisons are being made to Hurricane Irene in terms of size and the speed and force of the winds. What does astrology have to say about these destructive storms? Let’s take a look at some past storms and see what parallels we can draw to Sandy. Continue reading

Weekly Astrology Forecast: Walk on Eggshells

Zodiac and Stars

Zodiac and Stars

(Astrology Explored)–Astrology for the Week July 16 to July 22

I don’t know about you but Pluto worries me.

Pluto is the planet of transformation and as I wrote previously, it was sitting smack dab on the Lunar eclipse not so far back. Since then we had a solar eclipse, this past Sunday in fact, but that eclipse sitting nicely in the ninth house of higher knowledge, so maybe we’ll smarten up a little bit and use those higher energies to an enlightened purpose. In the meanwhile our forecast week starts with a very strong T-Square involving Mars, the Moon, and Saturn, in tension aspect to Jupiter and Uranus and all of that is in challenge aspect to Pluto.

Pluto square Mars opposite Uranus is the Harley Biker, the Gangsta, the original Bad Boy. To heck with the idea that Pluto is in the nice sedate zodiac sign of Capricorn. If you knew what I knew about Capricorn energy you’d feel uneasy too. Capricorn afflicted with poor aspects can be very twisted, with a me and only me attitude that is quite cold and calculated. Oh, they’ll be quite charming until they get what they want, then they’ll ignore you like they never knew you.

A T-Square always talks about relationships and difficulties within. With the Moon involved we are talking about our feelings, and what we are feeling is that we are not getting what we want! People with relationships that are on bad footing already might want to walk on eggshells just for this week, if you want to keep what you have. If not, it’s Adios Amigo!

Aries—Other people have plenty to say about what are doing. The typical Aries reaction to all of this is to not listen and do your own thing. Well, this is what got into your present situation in the first place, Aries. It is best if you resist temptation to make tracks when you should be making changes.

Taurus—The planet of beauty and love and Pluto make beautiful music in the heavens regarding love and finance. For you to reap these benefits, though, you must resist the temptation to speak out of turn or simply speak your mind. You are not apt to be well received it you don’t put a sock in it.

Gemini—Feeling restless you head off to some social event where you are witty, bright and charming. At least you think so. So don’t bother with those old bittys in the corner that aren’t copasetic with the length of your dress or the height of your heels. Some people just can’t resist the urge to criticize and you should resist the urge to listen.

Cancer—You want to do something, but what? You have the urge or opportunity to do something that requires a great amount of detail work which is something you normally don’t enjoy. However, this is one of those times when you must step up to the plate, so put your doubts asides and move forward with something that surely will bring other opportunities your way.

Leo—You can talk your way out of anything Leo, but this time you might find your tongue, as silver as it is, isn’t going to help. Midweek, you find people are working to undermine your efforts. Other people didn’t follow through on your instructions and failed to tell you. Keep a plan B in your pocket and your bosses apprised of the ramifications.

Virgo—You shine with a special glow this week as the planet of love, Venus, shines her light on you. It is a good time for haircuts and beauty treatments and to review your finances. I know unexpected expenses keep cropping up, but you can splurge a little bit.

Libra—You might as well get all that little stuff done you’ve been putting off this weekend, as by the end of week you’ll be give a whole lot of responsibility and quite suddenly too. You aren’t quite sure what is happening or why, but that will become clearer next week.

Scorpio—You find someone who is earthly sensual to kick off your fantasies. The problem is the boy or girl friend in the corner who isn’t so happy you are giving their sweetie the eye. Check out any situation before you make a move.

Sagittarius—The archer is a broad brush stroke kinda gal or guy, so when asked to pony up the details you just might fall off the horse. Dig a little deeper into your financial details and don’t trust to fate to keep you from bouncing your check to the electric company. Its no good operating in the dark.

Capricorn—Caught in a web of your own making, you just might find your carefully laid plans are co-opted by someone else. If you try to take the credit now, you’ll just be setting yourself up for a nasty shot to the jaw, figuratively if not literally speaking. Maybe next time you won’t try to go through the back door when the front door will do.

Aquarius—Get ready to face your worst fears. All eyes point to you as decisions are made of far reaching consequences. Call Fate or Destiny, but much of this is out of your hands, and the best you do is to take the reins and ride the steed that is given to you.

Pisces—You feel like you are swimming against the tide. You are. So much is going on around you, but you are being put into the information stream. Watch, look and listen, because soon things are going to happen to put the spotlight on you. Learn all you can to prepare.

The ‘60s Are Coming
Liberation movements, protests, dramatic social and cultural changes–if you remember the 1960’s, it was a dynamic decade whose influence is still felt and whose energy is reappearing with the Saturn-Uranus opposition and the forming Uranus-Pluto square. What were the seminal events and major themes of that decade? With some reference to Richard Tarnas’ brilliant research in Cosmos and Psyche, what might we expect to reappear now and in the future? As well, we will look at where the previous Saturn/Uranus/Pluto energy fell in your chart and what you might anticipate in the coming years.

Workshop: Saturday, April 17
10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Aspect Patterns: Geometry of the Soul
As planets glide around the Sun, they move periodically into certain pre-defined geometric relationships to one another. When linked together, the major aspects (conjunction, square, opposition, trine, and sextile) reveal your inner psyche, along with your life challenges and life purpose, as well as potential outer circumstances and events. Multiple aspects can create certain recognized configurations composed of these Ptolemaic aspects. We will cover the major patterns of stellium, grand trine, kite, T-square, and grand square, as well as hint at other possible connections between planetary energies.

The Astrology of Evolution: Saturn, Uranus, Pluto At It Again

castration-of-uranus2
The Sun in Virgo marches on the join Saturn in his long-term position, shining its light on Old Man Time who is and has been in opposition to Uranus. At the apex of T-Square is the original change agent, Pluto, commanding a position as middleman. This is a story as old as time, the struggle of new power systems against the old.

Once the supreme ruler of the Gods, Uranus, was the son of the primordial goddess, Night. Called the god of the Sky, Uranus presided over a human race that was morally pure, that did the right thing naturally. Uranus made the Earth, Gaia, his wife and mated with her each night. However, he hated the children of Gaia, most of who were monstrously formed. He imprisoned them and Gaia hated him for it. She devised a plan to free her children by persuading, one child, Saturn to dethrone his father. The Earth Mother gave him a flint sickle with which Saturn attacked his father, castrating him and destroying his procreative power.

Flint sickles were used before the development of metal implements. During the late Stone Age Neolithic humans domesticated wild cereals and grains, became farmers and left their hunter-gatherer ways behind. It is theorized that during the hunter-gatherer phase and through the entire Neolithic phase humans operated cooperatively but did not have the capacity for self-awareness, what is call the bi-cameral mind. Instead, mental processes of early humans operated in a state where independent thought was perceived as the voice of god. Thus humans perceived an ongoing and intimate relationship with god where god directly controlled their actions.

The difference between this ancient father/son pair is that while Uranus assumed his role as the primordial “father sky” instinctually, commanding the collective naturally, Saturn used conscious intent to command control. As hunter-gatherers, humans reacted to the environment, “naturally,” while as farmers assumed more control and organization over their environment. As the survival strategies of humans changed, their gods changed too signaling an evolving, though not a fully evolved, consciousness.

As “the son” Saturn faces “the father” Uranus in the sky, the push pull of imposed order over primordial collective instinct plays out once again. Interestingly enough, Saturn is one point of a Yod, called the finger of God, pointing directly at Saturn’s usurper, Jupiter, who was called Zeus by the Greeks. Uranus is in Aquarius, indicating a destined change in the collective consciousness. Pluto in Capricorn is the signal a change from the old economic and political systems to the new. Having evolved past the bicameral mind to conscious thought, from collective group action to the rise of the individual, what evolution awaits us now?
