Astrology and Celebrity: Bill O’Reilly’s Neptunian Moment

Bill O'Reilly (Astrology Explored) Bill O’Reilly came out swinging in his first interview since he was fired from the FOX news organization.

O’Reilly was fired from Fox News after an explosive New York Times report published in April revealed that he and the network had paid millions to settle sexual harassment lawsuits filed against him over the years — including two after former chairman Roger Ailes was ousted in the wake of his own sexual harassment scandal last summer. O’Reilly said on Friday that’s he’s had enough.

From now on when I’m attacked, I’m going to take action — mostly legal action,” O’Reilly said. “It’s not going to happen anymore to me.”

O’Reilly’s sexual harassment allegations led to a massive advertiser boycott, and resulted in Fox News canceling the top-rated “O’Reilly Factor.” The cable news king was dismissed from his 21-year perch at the network.

O’Reilly said he was “target number one” from “the organized left-wing cabal” charged with “destroying voices” it “does not like.”

We don’t have Bill O’Reilly’s full birth data. We lack the birth time, so any information about the moon is speculative. But when you have not one, not two, but many Neptunian indicators in a chart, then well, such statements are full of speculation, if you put it mildly.

The Astrology of Breakdowns and Breakthroughs: Step Away From That Saturn

White Rabbit(Astrology Explored) That powerful sucking you are feeling right now is a Moon-Saturn occultation in Scorpio. Fear not, it will pass.—Matthew Currie, FB Post

You felt it too. There was a little twisting in your gut. Something didn’t feel quite right. Is Pisces or Cancer a significant influence in your chart? You turned on the water works. If a white rabbit drove up in a car and told you to get in, you just might do it.

You entered the Saturn in Scorpio zone.

To be fair, it was a little more potent than usual. The Sun entered Pisces and perturbed Neptune and Chiron who are taking up residence there. Additionally, Jupiter, the planet of expansion, is trine Sun, Neptune, and Chiron! The Moon in Scorpio kicked it off, but we’ll feel the residual effects until the Sun moves off Neptune and Chiron. The Astrology of Neptune and Jupiter: Social Perceptions and Personal Addictions

View of Neptune via Triton (Astrology Explored) Bonnie (not her real name) comes to me with a problem. She and her boyfriend ended their relationship six months prior, but she finds her grief at the ending of the relationship has not subsided. Her friends, in fact, have grown tired of listening to her go on about the situation and suggested many times that she move on. The question she wants answered is, “Will we ever get back together?” This is her secret hope and her fervent prayer. After looking to see if such a thing is possible, and seeing that it is less likely than she thought, the challenge becomes helping Bonnie accept a new future. The reason that this is so very difficult is because of how the brain works.

In the middle part of the last century psychologists and psychiatrists held the view that a mentally healthy person had a reasonably good grasp on reality. A mentally healthy person’s perceptions about the world around him or her would align with how things “were.” Then in the 1980’s new research on social perception found out that this wasn’t the case at all. They found that our perceptions are based on “incomplete data gathering, shortcuts, errors and biases.” These errors in perception are called illusions(Taylor and Brown, 1988). These illusions promote three different perceptions that are out of synch with objective reality. The first is that we, all of us, have unrealistically positive views of ourselves. In other words we think we are better people than we are.The second is that we have exaggerated perceptions of personal control, that we direct and control the world around us to a greater degree than is actually true. The third perception we carry is an unrealistic optimism, especially for the future. We believe the future will bring better things and opportunities will get better, despite objective reality. However, far from the negative connotation of the word in general usage, illusions serve a useful and highly adaptive function. They help us navigate reality by shielding us from reality’s most damaging effects. This led to one researcher Robert Rosenthal to declare that “perception is reality.” Interestingly enough, researchers found that the people whose internal reality matches objective reality suffer from depression. In other words, most of us, except the depressed (ruled by Saturn) have fallen off the reality train a long time ago.

The keywords in what is described above are illusion and optimism which are tied into a single psychological process. For an astrologer, illusion and optimism are two different processes, the first being tied to Neptune, the second to Jupiter. But even in our own tradition, Jupiter and Neptune are bound together in a cyclic process described by Dane Rudhyar. In a 166 cycle of conjunctions, with Jupiter moving forward to the next zodiac sign signifying social evolution. Rudhyar says:

Jupiter deals particularly with social-cultural-religious feelings and the expansion that comes to the individual who operates warmly in terms of these feelings, reciprocated (usually) by others, either emotionally (happiness) or in terms of concrete values (wealth)

While Neptune:

is, thus, related to everything that is vast, immeasurable, indefinite, universalistic, but also loose, unfocused, misty, glamorous, unreal, escapist.

Under the dictum, “as above, so below” inherent in us, reflected in the presence of Jupiter and Neptune in the macrocosm, we all have the ability to make our own reality. We frequently do.

The evidence then suggests that we process our perceptions as we see fit and normally this works well. However, when it come to processing a situation where loss is profound and does not resolve itself under the normal grieving process, the situation gets very interesting. The lover (what psychologists call the secure attachment) is gone, but the feelings remains with nothing to anchor to in objective reality. What is left is the shadow side of Jupiter and Neptune. The shadow side of Jupiter is overindulgence; of Neptune delusion. The combination of overindulgence and delusion becomes no less than an addiction.

So it is we see people like Bonnie, asking us if we see any hope for their relationship as desperate as anyone on crack.

Of course, our job as astrologers is not to provide therapy but clarity. In gently defining the problem for the client and sending them to someone who can help them, we do the best thing we can. Hopefully they can release their addiction and come back into the light of the normal process of dismissing reality.

True Crime Astrology: FBI’s Latest Search For Hoffa’s Body

Picture from Wikimedia Commons(Astrology Explored) Teamster Leader Jimmy Hoffa’s disappearance is a true crime story that over the years has morphed into urban myth. Last seen at about 2:45 PM on July 30, 1975, the union leader with reputed mafia ties vanished while supposedly meeting with two Mafia associates. Over the years many mob tipsters have given out a veritable laundry list of possible locations for Hoffa’s body. However the FBI believed the latest tip so reliable that the federal agency spent 2 days digging it up. However, today ended it search of an unkept piece of land in a Detroit suburb.

The Oakland Township property came under scrutiny in January after Tony Zerilli, 85, the son of reputed former Detroit mob boss Joseph Zerilli, told investigators that Hoffa was buried there.

There was an old house with an old barn on the property,” Zerilli wrote, according to a copy handed out by a man at the site, near where FBI agents are digging today. “As soon as they pulled near the barn, Hoffa was dragged out of the car, and bound and gagged. A shallow hole was already dug in the barn floor. He put up a fight, but he was easily overpowered. …(One of the men) picked up a shovel and cracked Hoffa over the head with it. …They threw him into the hole, and buried him alive. He wasn’t shot, he wasn’t stabbed, nothing like that. A cement slab of some sort was placed on top of the dirt to make certain he was not going to be discovered. And that was it. End of story.”

Zerilli was not part of the crime itself, just claims to know people in the know. He is also selling an online book on this story. But is Zerilli’s story true or just another blind lead in an enduring mystery? What does astrology have to say? Continue reading

New Moon in Pisces: Under the Influence

Fairy New Moon (Astrology Explored) With the new moon joining the huge alignment of planets in Pisces the floodgates are about to open. Rarely do we see this many planets in the same sign. Like someone arriving at the theater late, this moon will trip her way through the seats to take her place next to the Sun, stepping on the toes of the other planets. Then she’ll exit stage right until she arrives in the zodiac sign of Aries, a first harbinger of the new spring. There are so many symbols in this configuration; one hardly knows where to start.

Neptune, Chiron, Mercury, Venus, Sun, and Mars tenants the zodiac sign of Pisces. Many people have a difficult time understanding Pisces energy. To be honest, people with a significant Pisces signature in their chart don’t understand Pisces. Some people rail at the Pisces propensity to stay above it all. Truth is Pisces does not engage with the world in a way that other people consider normal. Pisces cries at weddings, laughs at funerals, and dances away from the motor vehicle accidents that they cause by not paying attention to the road. Much of Pisces life has a “do not try this at home” element to it. This sign is all about merging with the river of life, which they do without benefit of a life jacket. “Fuck ‘em if they can’t take a joke,” is the favorite saying of one friend with a huge stellium of Pisces planets in his chart. The Astrology of Politics: Mitt Romney’s & The Republicans’ Fuzzy Logic

(Astrology Explored) Mitt Romney stated to supporters that Obama won the election because he gave “extraordinary” gifts to portions of the electorate.

Romney: “What the president’s campaign did was focus on certain members of his base coalition, give them extraordinary financial gifts from the government, and then work very aggressively to turn them out to vote, and that strategy worked.”

Romney’s campaign manager, Matt Rhoades, listed a few specifics: “Whether it was free contraceptives for 18 to 29 year-old women, DREAM Act waivers, student loan interest rate cuts for college students, and other initiatives geared toward energizing their coalition. They succeeded.”

Romney: ” It’s a proven political strategy, which is give a bunch of money to a group and, guess what, they’ll vote for you. … Immigration we can solve, but the giving away free stuff is a hard thing to compete with.

As usual, Mitt Romney gets it wrong. Continue reading
