There are some astrologers who maintain that astrology can’t predict events; that ‘free will’ is too much a part of the human equation to allow for the prediction of events.

Astrology, Politics and the Religious Right: Vagina Ideologues

No Girls Allowed (Astrology Explored) Another elected demi-god of the the religious right throws a down a gauntlet to the majority of American women by denying women a right to speak on a house committee hearing on birth control.

This morning, Democrats tore into House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) for preventing women from testifying before a hearing examining the Obama administration’s new regulation requiring employers and insurers to provide contraception coverage to their employees. Republicans oppose the administration’s rule and have sponsored legislation that would allow employers to limit the availability of birth control to women.

Ranking committee member Elijah Cummings (D-MD) had asked Issa to include a female witness at the hearing, but the Chairman refused, arguing that “As the hearing is not about reproductive rights and contraception but instead about the Administration’s actions as they relate to freedom of religion and conscience, he believes that Ms. Fluke is not an appropriate witness. The Astrology of Happiness vs. Unhappiness

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness(Astrology Explored) In the United States we even have it in our “Declaration of Independence’:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

These words, birthed in 1776, were written barely five years before the discovery of the planet of individuation, Uranus. Prior to the establishment of the United States, most people were vassals of the lands and of the king. Self determination was the province of the very rich, though they usually had their own problems with the king with which to deal. Happiness was promised to the masses after death via entrance into heaven upon living a “good” life. Happiness on earth, however, was not guaranteed, and should one secure it, was viewed with some suspicion.

Written by Thomas Jefferson, who had Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius on his ascendant, the words in the Declaration of Independence were and are the claxton of The New Age of Aquarius. Written as a political manifesto this message non-the-less proclaimed that God gave us the right to be happy.

What a revolutionary idea! An unfortunately an idea that than many of us do not take to heart.

No doubt, human existence is difficult for many who live in this world. There is just too much injustice as men strive against men over the perceived lack of world resources to make it easy. Yet even for those that live in industrialized nations, where food and shelter is available to nearly everyone; even those that have much compared to the majority of human existence live in a state of un-parallelled unhappiness. The weird and the strange part of this that many people believe they do not deserve to be happy. Some can not even image what it would be like to be so. Continue reading

Faith McInerney has been working with astrology for 30 years using techniques combining Uranian points, traditional planets, major asteroids, and Chiron with harmonics and midpoints sorts for natal and predictive work focusing on concrete issues. She is from New York City where she is active with the NCGR chapter.

The Astrology of Politics: The Susan G. Komen Public Relations Disaster

Pink Ribbon(Astrology Explored) Pro-lifers defend it, Pro-Choicers bash it, but it is clear that the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation’s decision to end funding to Planned Parenthood has produced a backlash has colored the public’s perceptions of a once lauded charity as a politics driven vehicle bent on shaping public policy.

The funding was granted for use in breast cancer screening procedures, including mammograms and other breath health education programs.

A spokesperson for Rep. Mike Honda (D-Calif.) said that he personally called Komen founder Nancy Brinker to complain when he heard the news on Tuesday, and he and 22 other members of the House of Representatives have signed onto a letter asking her to reverse her decision.

“This is an alarming development resulting from political pressure from anti-women’s health organizations,” the letter says. “We ask – in the strongest possible terms – that Susan G. Komen reconsider its decision, as the health of millions of brave women everywhere demands the same kind of bravery exhibited the Komen Foundation.”

Celtic Astrology: Imbolc and the Symbolism of the Cross-Quarter Days

Halfway between the Winter Equinox and the Spring Equinox is the cross-quarter day which the Celts called Imbolc (eem’ ul). We call it Groundhog’s Day, February 2. Though the names are different they come from the same Celtic tradition.

Imbolc marks the day when daylight makes significant progress against the night.

Wikipedia tells us:

The holiday was, and for many still is, a festival of the hearth and home, and a celebration of the lengthening days and the early signs of spring. Celebrations often involved hearthfires, special foods (butter, milk, and bannocks, for example), divination or watching for omens, candles or a bonfire if the weather permits.[1][2] Imbolc is traditionally a time of weather prognostication, and the old tradition of watching to see if serpents or badgers came from their winter dens is perhaps a precursor to the North American Groundhog Day. Bush v. Gore, 531 U.S. 98 (2000), is the landmark United States Supreme Court decision that effectively resolved the 2000 presidential election in favor of George W. Bush. Only eight days earlier, the United States Supreme Court had unanimously decided the closely related case of Bush v. Palm Beach County Canvassing Board, 531 U.S. 70 (2000), and only three days earlier, had preliminarily halted the recount that was occurring in Florida.

In a per curiam decision, the Court ruled that the Florida Supreme Court’s method for recounting ballots was a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The Court also ruled that no alternative method could be established within the time limits set by the State of Florida. Three concurring justices also asserted that the Florida Supreme Court had violated Article II, § 1, cl. 2 of the Constitution, by misinterpreting Florida election law that had been enacted by the Florida Legislature.

In 2008 Hilary Clinton lost crucial delegates when Florida decided to hold its primary early in contravention of Democratic party rules. An unhappy Democratic National Committee stripped Florida of all of its votes, rendering Clinton’s overwhelming victory over Barack Obama meaningless.
