Weekly Astrology Forecast: Dreams of Dragons

dragon2-smallAstrology for the Week of March 26 to April 1

Having spent a heady weekend listening to lectures of Pluto in Capricorn, dragons and the Book of Revelations, courtesy of the Astrological Society of Connecticut, what should greet me as I look at this week’s stars but the aspect structure of the dragon itself.

Sliding like a great snake through the round of the great wheel of the zodiac, it starts at Pluto making a challenge aspect the Moon/Saturn conjunction on the 29th, which stresses the Mercury/Venus conjunction, wrapping itself around a Yod, the finger of God, that talks about the fated nature of our relationships.

Destiny plays a hand in our relationships it seems, and the deepest part of our natures will be touched, like a note plucked on a stringed instrument.

Where Libra is in your chart, especially at zero degrees, is the area that will be kicked up for your examination. What you give, what you do not give, what you desire will all be called into question. Libra, a cardinal sign, in this early degree will rush in where angels fear to tread.

If you want to find where Libra is in your chart, go to this website—http://astro-software.com/cgi-bin/astro/natal—which after a couple simple questions will spit out the positions of your planets and your houses in simple English. What you will be looking for is the house where the zodiac sign of Libra sits.

If you have Libra in the first house, you’ll be thinking that your physical attractiveness plays a role in your connections to others. The tendency here is to overemphasize what is essentially a small part in attraction and desire. If it were true that only beauty made us worthy for love, most of us wouldn’t marry! Keep that in mind.

Libra in the Second—Is it love, or love of money? You tend to get romantic when dollar signs, not cupid arrows are flying, so you just might be faced with the choice of the right one without a sous, and the wrong one with all the right stuff financially. Interesting choices.

Libra in the Third—The one that won’t get past you is the one who knows all the pretty words to make you swoon. Do you fall for them, hook, line and sinker, or do you grab the closest lifesaver? Sink or swim.

Libra in the Fourth—You greatest desire is harmony in the home, but lately to achieve this you have been, shall we say, glossing over some uncomfortable truths. The result is that you are holding in you fears and resentments, not the best thing for your sensitive stomach. If you are having problems with your insides, it is time to look at what is really bothering you.

Libra in the Fifth—With the Yod activating this area that relates to love affairs and creative ventures, you are feeling locked in and strangely locked out of both of these areas of your life. You can’t stop thinking about that special someone, but at the same time, you aren’t sure that person is thinking about you. Do be sure that he or she is, but whether or not something will happen is anybody’s guess.

Libra in the Sixth—You are sure there is something wrong with you. The doctor finds nothing. While it is not all in your head, as the kindly doc suggests, maybe it is something in your soul. Time for a second opinion, so whatever works for you in the spirituality department is where you should head for your answers.

Libra is the Seventh—Before you blow up your relationship, it is time to write the good things on one side of the list and the bad things on the other. If the good outweighs the bad, see a therapist. If the bad out weighs the good, see a lawyer. In any case, this is not a DIY project.

Libra in the Eighth—I don’t know whether to envy or pity you. On one hand you might get to experience carnal pleasures the like of which you’ve never had before, on the other, the fallout of such an experience just might blow you away. If you aren’t sure, concentrate that tax return. That will dampen all desire.

Libra in the Ninth—Higher education and travel are transformative experiences, though neither one is likely to go without a hitch. Make sure you have plenty of your own resources rather than relying on someone else to get you through a bumpy ride.

Libra in the Tenth—The attraction of new business partner is upmost on your mind. No one is better than you at networking, and if you are wary of the fine print, you just might find someone who can help you advance your work goals.

Libra in the Eleventh—The people you hang with expect far too much of you right now. They want you to “make things work” while doing very little of the work themselves. Use your natural charm to get them on board with current projects.

Libra in the Twelfth—You may be thrashing about some difficult issues relating to the care of a loved one. While the other people around you have good intentions, they want to move more quickly than for which the situation calls. Call the shots and take your time.

Don Cerow–Decoding the Book of Revelation

Have you ever read the last book of the Bible? No, seriously, ever try to get through the horrific images of death, pestilence and divine retribution? The prophecy of Armageddon? The trials of the “End Times” ?

People have been predicting the end of the world, well since, the beginning of the world. So far it hasn’t happened and according to Don Cerow, despite the doom sayers, the Book of Revelation doesn’t predict it either. Rather, the the twenty two chapters of Revelation and its colorful language depict a timeline of events that brings us through the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius.

An academician by training, Don takes a painstaking path laying out the astronomy and the astrology of his hypothesis. Written in a time before the schism of astronomy and astrology, the Book of Revelation is laden with astrological references that would make sense to a first century Mediterranean world dominated by Greek culture.

Following the Vernal Equinox as it precesses (moves backward) through the zodiac Don outlines significant events of the Age of Pisces and relates them to the fixed stars in the zodiac sign of as the Vernal Equinox matches (parallels) their positions.

In Don’s own words:

Revelation unlocks the vault of heaven and the treasures that lie hidden within.

In Revelation there are eight seals that are opened by the “Lamb of God” the only spiritual being able to do so. Don points out that as the book was written in 1st Century AD three of the fixed stars had already been hit by the Vernal Equinoxes, making these seals not so much prophecies but as markers of events as if to say “this is what happened before, now watch as we talk about what will happen”.

The fourth seal is an actual prophecy that marks the passage of the Vernal Equinox through Mu Piscium at about 246 AD.

This prophecy says:

“When he broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth animal shout, ‘Come.’ Immediately another horse appeared, deathly pale, and its rider was called Plague, and Hades followed at his heels. They were given authority over a quarter of the earth, to kill by the sword, by famine, by plague and wild beasts.” -Revelation 6: 7-8

This period was a time of extreme governmental insecurity marked by continuous civil wars and foreign invasions. At the same time plague ravaged the Roman population reportedly felling 5,000 Roman citizens a day at its height.

Revelation says this about the fifth seal:

“When he broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of all the people who had been killed on account of the word of God, for witnessing to it. They shouted aloud, ‘Holy, faithful Master, how much longer will you wait before you pass sentence and take vengeance for our death on the inhabitants of the earth?’ Each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to be patient a little longer, until the roll was complete and their fellow servants and brothers had been killed just as they had been.” -Revelation 6: 9-11

The souls in this seal were told to be patient, held in abeyance, “until the roll was complete”, that is until the end of the Age of Pisces. This was the time where they were to “let those that do good, will do good, and those that do evil will do evil.” In other words, God was just going to let things roll as humans played out their personal passion plays.

The time that this Vernal Equinox parallels Zeta Piscium in 572 AD. The Lombards, the most barbaric of the barbarians, invaded Rome and “broke the back of Roman civilization”. Civilization disintegrated and the Romans were at the mercy of societal forces beyond their control.

As the opening of each of the seals indicates, the release of the troubles contained therein brought in its wake sorrow and suffering. For those who were killed for witnessing to the word of God, their soul’s purification was the result. Meanwhile, time and the rest of the world waited for final judgment.

The sixth seal, the parallel between the Vernal Equinox and Epsilon Piscium, in 778 AD correlates with the thirty year war Charlemagne waged against the pagan people of the North. In a bold stroke Charlemagne beheaded “5,000 princes of Gaelic peoples” which won him his battle but lost his war. In retribution the Vikings, whose royalty was intermarried with the Gaels, attacked the sad remnants of once great Rome, carrying away plunder, and eventually setting up settlements to support raiding forays into the heartland of Rome herself.

The seventh seal is not so much a prophecy, but an announcement proclaiming that when when the seventh seal was opened “there was silence in heaven for about a half an hour.” This cryptic reference is a actually a metaphor for the 1,000 years the Vernal Equinox will take to reach the last and final point, the parallel with Omega Piscium, which Don calculates is about February 12, 2013, the end of the Age of Pisces and the beginning of the Age of Aquarius.

As to what happens in the next three years is anyone’s guess, and as prognosticators some of us will take a stab at it. What is important to remember that the despite the trials of humanity have suffered through the ages as a species we have adapted, evolved and endured. The “end times” is the end of an age, not the end of humanity. The Book of Revelation promises “The New Jerusalem” of which Carly Simon signs so eloquently. So before you cancel your life insurance, or run up those credit card bills, prepare for the coming of a new age, rather than lament the old.

Weekly Astrology Forecast: Saturn in Libra-The New Relationship of Equals

yinyangAstrology for the Week of March 19 through March 25

When you have two heavy hitting planets squaring off one another, you know that things are due for a major shake-up. Pluto the planet of transformation is in challenge aspect to the planet of structure, Saturn, so we are threatened with having the rug pulled from out under our feet.

This Saturn is in the relationship and partnership oriented sign of Libra. The last time Saturn was in Libra was the early 80’s, a time social upheaval as more and more women entered the workplace and we struggled as a society with the consequences of that shift. For those of us that remember, it was a time when a woman’s place was seriously questioned, when many of us opted for career first, marriage second, and many people wondered if we were all going to Hell in a hand basket because the women were acting so crazy. What we were seeking was what Saturn in Libra seeks, partnerships based on equality rather than a division of labor and we saw our work as a way of evening the score.

Fast-forward to the first part of this millennium and women’s careers are just as important as the male side of the human family. In fact, women are making significant gains in certain industries while men with still significant higher salaries than women are taking the brunt of the recent economic collapse. More men are out of work than women and out for longer stretches of time. This tipping of the scales fleshes out a relatively new cultural dynamic, that of the woman as primary wage earner. As we struggle with a flattened dollar and a shrinking economy men as forced to reexamine and redefine their roles within relationships. Unfortunately, the initial reports of this phenomenon are not good. Men just aren’t adjusting. The hardy few that segue into a more family oriented role are just that, a cultural minority that are often treated as outsiders by their peers and by women as well. As for the others, family tensions erode tenuous marital relationships. It is no secret that a bad economy spikes increases in substance abuse and family violence, so much so that the Senator from Utah called for “putting men to work” as a way of easing domestic violence.

Pluto shakes up the status quo; it transforms what is to the things that are to come. Though Pluto is in the zodiac sign of tradition, Capricorn, it is when Pluto is Capricorn that traditional structures are shaken loose, and new structures are created. Knowing that Pluto is challenging Saturn, we can see that old structures, old regimes, old ways of thinking about relationships, measuring value and worth are being transformed. It may very well be that with traditionally male industries being downsized, that men, at least the ones living today, will never recover the wage earning ability that measured their place in society and their attractiveness as mates. They are going to need new currency if they want a relationship. And that currency may well be the traditional feminine one of being a caretaker in the relationship.

So this Saturn in Libra is the flip side of the one in Eighties. Now we are still seeking a relationship of equals, but the equality is not one of economic power but a balance of caretaking roles within the relationship.

Aries and Libra—You both worry way too much about who is in charge of the relationship. Though you feel the need to take the lead role, the true test is letting your partner have an equal say.

Taurus and Scorpio—Spend some time in serious contemplation of what it is you want to achieve. Nighttime dreams are a key to your desires.

Gemini and Sagittarius—You are both incorrigible flirts and we love you for it. Mars in Leo supports even your most outrageous adventures.

Cancer and Capricorn—Look to past success stories to get a key to your future. What you’ve done before with a slight out of the box twist will work again even if you worry the lightning can’t strike twice.

Leo and Aquarius—With Mars fueling your activities, you are overreaching a bit. Stretching your muscles is not a bad thing, but stretching the truth is. Look at things a little more realistically.

Virgo and Pisces—Be careful in motion and don’t overdo. You are feeling an abundance of energy, but unfortunately, misdirected could make you a bit clumsy. Label yourself, “handle with care”.

Don Cerow Lectures In Connecticut: Stars, Myths and Legends

cerowMyth and legend are not just amusing stories for internationally known astrologer, lecturer and writer Don Cerow: they are a living connection between the peoples of the past and us today. Ancient peoples didn’t view the heavens as a static picture of stars and stellar phenomenon, but a dynamic stage upon which their gods played out elaborate stories of grace, sin and redemption. At one time astrology and astronomy were part of one science, that of divining the messages of the gods. An astrologer since 1972, Don’s principle interest has been in how astrology has evolved from the mythology and astronomy of ancient peoples.

The ancient world has always held an appeal to Don. Graduating with a BA Magna Cum Laude with a major in Classics, and a minor in Astrology in the Ancient World with from the University of Massachusetts, he continued his graduate work at both Boston University and Brandeis. Blending his astrological and historical knowledge he’s created a number of lectures, television and radio shows tracing the rise and fall of civilizations as they are marked by the astrological great ages, from the dawn of civilization during the Age of Gemini up through our present time standing on the doorway of the Age of Aquarius.

From March 18 through March 20, Don brings his considerable knowledge and unique perspective to Connecticut in lectures and a workshop sponsored by the Astrological Society of Conneticut.

At the March 18th lecture held 7:00 PM, at the Keeney Memorial Center in Wethersfield, CT, he presents his lecture “Down the Rabbit Hole” connecting the dots between the powerful lord of the Underworld, Pluto and past and current events.

On Friday, March 19th, he presents a planetarium show, Stars, Myths and Legends, held at the Exley Science Center, 265 Church Street, Middletown, CT, Don wil retell a number of creation myths involving dragons, answering the question of why dragons are part of the myths and legends around the world.

On Saturday, March 20th, he presents a workshop on the Book of Revelations a work of the Bible he believes was left as a time capsule with an encrypted message for our time.

More details and sign-ups for these presentations can be found at the Astrological Society of Connecticut web page.

Weekly Astrology Forecast: The Drumbeat of the Heavens

drumbeatsAstrology for the Week of March 12 through March 18

Astrologers have been going on about the Cardinal Grand Cross that appears on and off in the heaven through out this coming year but especially prominent this coming summer for a variety of good reasons. The very nature of the Cardinal mode of expression demands that action be taken. That it is locked into energy that places the planets in challenge and at odds with each other suggest situations that threaten to explode with pent up energy. Since Pluto in the zodiac sign of Capricorn is involved this suggests a nuclear process, a chain reaction of events that shake the very foundation of our lives and our souls. It is all heady and dramatic stuff, the material that dire predictions are made of. Considering the wide world we live in no doubt that some of it will come true.

But this astrologer is more concerned with the Cardinal T-Square in the heavens, locking Pluto the planet of transformation, Saturn the planet of duties and responsibilities in the relationship oriented zodiac sign of Libra and now Venus, the planet of romantic love, in the dreamy zodiac sign of Pisces.

There is an assortment of planets that follow Venus in the sky right now, so even as Venus moves out of the tension aspect to Saturn, another planet will follow in its place, a sort of “boom, boom, boom” that highlights yet another aspect of the challenge of transforming our ideas about relationships, which I believe is the real theme of this year. Forget about the financial crisis, two wars on two different fronts, the mounting national debt, record unemployment and all the rest. What really occupies our attention is our relationships.

Venus in the primary slot right now has us focusing on our desire natures. This can take a variety of forms, from secret love affairs to ignoring our relationships in favor of money earning opportunities. Something has got to give, and with Pluto involved, most likely it is your resolve.

Around the middle of next week Mercury moves into position and either communications opens like a dam or clams up. The issues are forced upon you and cannot be ignored.

Maybe the Universe is giving us some time to recover because the next step is in the middle of June, when we are hit with a double whammy of Uranus joining Jupiter. Saturn temporarily slips back into the zodiac sign of Virgo, which is looking for perfection and actively involved in the T-Square finds it lacking. Uranus wants freedom and Jupiter the planet of expansion eggs him on. Things aren’t perfect, fine! Let’s motor on Uranus says, “I’m too good for you anyway!” But again Pluto trumps all odds and you are drawn back to examine what went wrong.

“Boom, boom, boom.” Do you hear it? It’s the drumbeat of the heavens.

Aries—Sometimes Aries, you don’t see the forest for the trees. Loving good times are possible if you stop resisting the things you have to do to make a relationship work. If you do, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how it will all work out.

Taurus—Overdoing physical activity could stress your bones and possibly even your spine. The Universe is calling on you to rest, so do it, for heaven’s sake!

Gemini—You are feeling especially flirty caught as you are between a playful Venus in Aries and an amorous Mars in Leo. Take aim carefully with your witty barbs, Gem, because you might land in the sights of someone who is far more serious (and skilled) in the games of love than you are.

Cancer—I don’t know whether to feel sorry for you, or slap you upside the head. You are feeling especially cranky because you want some thing you think you can’t have. Maybe if you talk about with someone, you find a different perspective.

Leo—Won’t do much sense to tell you anything right now Leo, since it is full steam ahead, whether or not you have a full load of fuel. Do chill down for the weekend though, as there are likely to be tricky relationship waters to navigate then.

Virgo—You should be used to this by now. People are flaking out on you again. Nagging will only make it worse, so maybe you should consider telling people how that makes you feel rather than pointing out how badly they have failed you. Might work.

Libra—You are the sensible one in the relationship right now, but demanding that someone buckle into harness with you isn’t going to work. Try giving some lead to the lease of your relationship needs. As they say, “If you love something, set it free.”

Scorpio—Cut the “I only fall for people who are unavailable” nonsense. How many times do you need to spin your wheels on that one? Instead create a vision of the loving relationship you desire and hold it as a hologram in your heart. Until then, same old, same old.

Sagittarius—“To hot to handle” is your theme song this week. Everything is rock and roll. Finally.

Capricorn–When fireworks fly in the relationship department you are caught seriously off guard. The love of adventure calls out to your sweetie, and if you aren’t there to share in the fun, you could find yourself on the outside looking in. Make some time to share some time if you want to avoid this.

Aquarius—With Mars direct in your opposite sign, there are sure to be some fireworks, some of it in the workplace. Its not all bad though, if you take some time to shower some attention on that someone special. Then some fireworks of the more pleasant variety can be showered on you.

Pisces—You’re a butterfly, Pisces and as beautiful as you are, you demand in your oh so sweet way to take you as your are. However, other people want to see a little more substance to your protestations of love, so give already!

Weekly Astrology Forecast: The Warrior Queen

warrior-queen2Astrology for the week of March 5, 2010

An unusual Grand Trine, the big daddy of lucky aspects, forms with two planets in Fire Signs and one in a Water Sign at the start of our forecast week. One is Mars is in Leo, about to go direct in its motion, and the Moon is in adventurous fire sign Sagittarius. Both form harmonious connections to the planet of our love nature, Venus.

Venus is in romantic Pisces, the hearts and flowers sign, sitting next to quirky Uranus. Uranus, sitting in the sign of spirituality, is trying to merge the energy of the collective with higher spiritual goals. Love, should it take flight this weekend, will be a grand adventure of love and higher purpose.

The rest of the week finds us questioning the commitment of our partners as they take off and do their own thing. Very unsettling especially since Venus clothes herself in the garb of the Warrior Queen as she moves into the freedom loving and adventurous sign of Aries. Oh, kind sirs, as your women leave you to your own devices, do you now realize what you are missing?

Aries—You are about to embark on a grand adventure though you find yourself at odds at whether or not this is a wise choice. Commitments and relationships weigh heavily on your mind now.

Taurus—OK you slacker. Back to work! What? You’ve been working all along?. Not as hard as should, Taurus, but you’ll find that out soon enough. Important people count on you to pull the bacon out of the fire.

Gemini—You don’t need much to flirt, but with Venus in Aries, your flirty engine is on overdrive. Take care and don’t give your sweetie a reason to doubt you. For single Gemini, be prepared to deliver on your suggestions.

Cancer—Bosses, fathers, and husbands figure big in this week’s scenario as issues from the past loom large. Don’t bury your head in the sand. Take a good look at what is coming up.

Leo—Full speed ahead! Now that the planet of action, which has been backpedaling through your Sun, has gone direct you are free to move ahead on your plans.

Virgo—Try a little tenderness Virgo. Others are feeling mighty romantic toward you. You would do well to return the feelings.

Libra—Just when you are ready to make a commitment, your intended suddenly takes off. This isn’t about you, Libra, and you would do best not to force the issue.

Scorpio—Maybe it is best that you like to skulk about in the shadows right now. Money and love are iffy right now anyway, and anything you are likely to do may backfire.

Sagittarius—with the planet of love , Venus and the planet of lust, Mars in harmonious energetic connection with your Sun, its not too hard to figure out what you are thinking of, Sag. Oohlala!

Capricorn—Putting the hammer down, trying to lock in issues and in general trying to boss people around will only strain relationships with friends and associates. Let others do their own thing and things will work out better.

Aquarius—You will need to wait awhile before you can get a lock on relationship issues. Other people have their heads in their own places and don’t see things from your perspective. While you are waiting take the Aquarian version of a vacation and do your own thing.

Pisces—With a ton of planets in your sign, you are feeling like life is a bowl of cherries. Now, however, is not the time for idle dreaming. Put some effort into your plans for spectacular results.
